greenwood cemeteryLast week Nora and I visited Chicago. It was my first time in the Windy City and I wasn't struck so much by the wind but by the fog shrouding the tops of skyscrapers. Also, it was not what I expected; I think I was anticipating something more industrial. (To be fair, when Ann and I watched Chicago Real World she told me how cool the city was.) Highlights of the trip include meeting Ian and Valerie's lovely two-year-old daughter -- who likes to splash herself with cold water in the tub; tasting great vegan chocolate cake made by a friend of theirs; the brownie bridge (act 3); a B'hai temple; the enchanting neighborhoods of Boy's Town and Bucktown; and Quimby's book store where I purchased two zines: Smile Hon, You'Re in Baltimore and the Buddhist edition of 28 Pages Lovingly Bound with Twine.
