Two loves of my life would otherwise seem polar opposites: Buddhism and Darkwave -- or, Goth/EBM/SynthPop/etc. However, I find parallels and I suspect this is because when one has any two such cultures on the mind, one is bound to find analogies: Buddhism is a cognitive therapy and music is a cognitive balm. So, despite the fact that none of these bands probably intended their song to reflect Buddhism, I enjoy interpreting them as such.
Nothing belongs to you forever \ Nothing stays with you forever \ And ever \ No time, no space, just the rhythm has sense \ Your possessions are nothing, feel the flow of heart \ Wake up now when I say \ You're living in a world where nothing will stay ...
So you go round and round \ another life another wound \ from death to birth, from birth to death \ No time to waste, no time to rest \ So you go round and round \ another life another wound \ and when you finally touch the light \ they send you back into the night...
To think is not the way \ To feel is not the way \ To try is not the way \ To run is not the way ...
Oh you lonesome dreamer \ Wandering down the memory lane \ Yearning in vain \ So convinced that yesterday's always sweeter \ You're lost in the past \ So let me get you through the deceiving layers of time \ Let me wake you from your illusions \ To see that there's nothing to fear \ Release yourself ...
I feel you \ in every stone \ in every leaf of every tree \ you've ever grown \ I feel you \ in every thing \ in every river that might flow \ in every seed you might have sown ...
And while it's a different genre, I also apply a Buddhist take to Placebo's Protege Moi: "Protect me from what I want, protect me, protect me..."
