| During the semester, I do tons of reading, but it's not very fun. In
fact, aside from the magazines and journals I read, I keep myself from reading good
non-fiction or fiction. I tend to like to crank on a book until I'm done. This usually
takes about a day, but I usually can't take a whole day to read when the semester is
rolling along. So, I had a Christmas Reading Binge this
break. This helps me keep some sanity, especially my indulgence with science
fiction. I also visited family and hung out with my friend Scott. We went to Fells Point in Baltimore, hit the thrift stores, and on another day he also showed me some frames from his graphics novel that he is working on and gave me a copy of his "Art Fags"(Bowash Publishing), Chester Brown's "Ed the Happy Clown" and the ST-TNG "Modula Imperative" (I read it before too) to feed my binge. Maybe I'll scan some of Scott's things in when I get a chance. I liked "Ed the Happy Clown", maybe a little to indulgent of bodily function humor :-o but it was interesting. Poor Ed. The other thing I did was waste time watching TV. Every time I go home it gets weirder. The library has more video cassettes and less books (it also now has a security guard.) There are tons more developments all around my house, and TV is just full of psychic friends junk. The old crap I used to see was bad enough, but now it is all about getting your lucky lottery numbers. Stupidity upon stupidity!! All the movies that I used to watch on the weird channels like "A Christmas Story" are bought up by the Malones and Turners of the world, and now 54 just shows infomercials. |
